As the basis for all disciplines of investigation and research, philosophy orients the student to critical and logical thinking, reflective thought, and the development of philosophical issues, personalities, and schools.  As the foundation of the liberal arts, philosophy is ideal for students seeking a minor to complement their major areas of study either in the arts, humanities, sciences, and religion or the professional disciplines.

William Carey University offers an academic minor in philosophy on the Hattiesburg campus.  The University also offers introductory level philosophy on the Tradition and New Orleans campuses.

The minor in philosophy consists of eighteen semester hours, and students are able to earn the minor during a two-year period on the Hattiesburg campus.  Within the minor, students are required to analyze both classical and contemporary works of western philosophy in the major areas of the discipline.
