Carol A. Morreale is the Director of Interprofessional Education and Community Health Initiatives, and Associate Professor of Preclinical Sciences at William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Morreale received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Temple University School of Pharmacy and completed two years of residency training at Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems specializing in adult critical care. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in nutrition science from Rutgers University and received her Master’s in Public Health at the University of Southern Mississippi. Dr. Morreale is board certified in both geriatrics and pharmacotherapy.
Dr. Morreale has conducted research in the areas of neuromuscular blockade, nephrotoxicity of antibiotics, adverse effects of proton pump inhibitor use including economic effects, and the relationship between inpatient fluoroquinolone use and the development of clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea. She was an investigator for many sepsis-related studies, including a study of hydrocortisone versus the combination of hydrocortisone and fludrocortisone for the treatment of adrenal insufficiency during septic shock and Phase II-B trial of ART-123 for the treatment of DIC in sepsis and other industry-sponsored studies.
Dr. Morreale is a member of multiple professional societies and has presented at a number of professional meetings. Prior to moving to Mississippi in 2011, in addition to her clinical practice, she worked in post-graduate education and developed a critical care pharmacy residency program.
