The Victoria Memorial, the Maidan, Calcutta. A museum opened by the then Viceroy, Lord Curzon, in 1921 to commemorate the achievements of the British in India. Built in white marble and loosely based on the Taj Mahal. It is still a very popular attraction. The statue on the dome is often used as a symbol for the city.
