Samuel Stillman, D.D, (1737-1807)
Longtime minister (1765-1807) of First Baptist Church, Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Samuel Stillman wrote a letter on September 1, 1806, recommending to Brown University that William Carey be awarded the honorary Doctor of Divinity degree (D.D.). Dr. Stillman's letter is held at Brown University.
