Rules For Induction
1. GRADUATION
No player can be inducted onto the Wall Of Fame unless he has graduated from William Carey University (formerly College).
2. TIMEFRAME & CRITERIA
Players who achieve any of the six criteria outlined below will be automatically inducted onto the W.O.F. at the first annual Crusader awards ceremony following his achievement and/or graduation whichever comes first; unless there is a written objection stating reasons why this player should not be inducted. In the case of an objection the nomination will go before the Nominations Panel for scrutiny and final decision.
AUTOMATIC INDUCTION CRITERIA
i) Is named as an NAIA First Team All-American
ii) Achieves multiple (more than one) All-American 2nd or 3rd team awards.
iii) Sets a new all-time school record for goals or points scored or seasonal record for goals or points scored.
iv) Scores enough goals or points to be in the top three all-time leading goals or points scorers.
v) Is selected to play for his countries senior national team.
vi) Signs a full-time professional contract with either MLS in the USA or with another full-time professional soccer league overseas and has been rostered for a minimum of three seasons.
OTHER CRITERIA FOR INDUCTION IF NOT MEETING AUTOMATIC STANDARDS
Players who have not accomplished any of the above criteria may still be eligible for induction if nominated and seconded by two former alumni 'for other areas of outstanding achievement' either while at Carey and/or after graduating from Carey. Example: Coaching or administration, media, charity, service to the nation, etc., However no player may be nominated until a period of at least five years has passed since their date of graduation. Non-players such as coaches, administrators and other notables can be nominated but must have completed a minimum of 5 years of service to the program. Nominations for this category shall be argued before a five person panel who will be charged with approving or declining the nomination. The Nominations Panel shall consist of:
a) The current head soccer coach who shall act as Chairperson
b) The current Athletic Director
c) The Director of Student Affairs or their deputy
d) The Director of Alumni Services or their deputy
e) A current member of the WOF or their deputy
The Chair shall not vote unless their is a tie in which case the Chair shall cast the deciding vote. Voting shall be by blind ballot.
