W.C.U. present season awards

Academic All-Americans Jr, Jared Wooley and Sr. Christoph Schaefer topped the W.C.U. soccer awards presentations.

As well as presenting Academic All-American awards to Wooley and Schaefer the pair also received G.C.A.C. All-Conference honors along with freshmen Carl Reynolds and Rob Rogers.

The season’s award for M.V.P. went to Wooley, a former ‘Rookie of the Year’ in 2005, while the 2007 ‘Rookie’ award went to Reynolds. Rogers picked up the ‘Most Improved Player’ award almost making it a sweep for the trio.

The final presentation was the prestigious ‘Crusader Award’ which went to Sr. Carl Hollowed. Hollowed missed the entire 2007 season with a knee injury that required surgery but he has battled back and completed a tough re-habilitation program and had an excellent spring season.

“During the whole time when it would have been easy to get down or to give in Carl persevered and is back to full fitness. He should play an important part in any success we have next season.” remarked coach Boulton.

Hollowed missed out on the teams G.C.A.C. Championship last year but Boulton has high hopes for Hollowed in 2008. “I’m hoping next year he will get his reward and he will also be standing here an Academic All-American himself.” added Boulton.
