HATTIESBURG, MS- #17 William Carey University women’s soccer team defeated the University of Mobile 3-0 Tuesday night to remain unbeaten on the season and to improve 2-0 in GCAC play.
Carey used a dominating first half offensive performance and an outstanding second half defensive effort to come away with the victory.
Carey dominated every aspect of first half play. The Lady Crusaders blasted twelve shots and limited the visitors to just two shots in the half. Molly Jo Herrin, Jeana Erickson and Aimi Beresford each notched goals for the Lady Crusaders in the opening 45 minutes of play.
In the second half the Lady Rams gave the Lady Crusaders all they could handle. However, Carey goalie Valerie Split-Log was again outstanding in the goal as she saved five shots in the half to preserve the shut out victory.
Split-Log’s shut out was her third straight and sixth this season. Split-Log has not allowed a goal since the first half of the Mississippi Valley game (September 15th ) a total of 315 minutes of shut out play.
With the win Carey improves to 9-0 on the season and 2-0 in GCAC play.
