• Spring Hill 3, William Carey 3 - William Carey University women's soccer team's 15 game win streak was snapped Tuesday night, as Spring Hill College battled Carey to a 3-3 double overtime tie.
On the stat sheet the Lady Crusaders dominated the play on the offensive end as Carey blasted out 29 shots and limited the Lady Badgers to only five shots.
However, Spring Hill made the most of their opportunities with the first coming only two minutes into the game as Kasey Pruett split the Carey defenders and blasted a shot to the right post to beat keeper Valerie Split-Log and give the Lady Badgers a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Crusaders evened things up in the 17th with a sensational shot by Natailie Nino. Carey continued to press their advantage, but keeper Shannon Netherby came up with four huge saves to keep the Lady Badgers in it.
Then in the 39th minute Lynsey Winkler capitalized off a misplayed ball by the Carey defense and beat Split-Log to give the Lady Badgers a 2-1 advantage heading into the half.
Carey tied things up just three minutes into the second half with a goal from Shannon Steffen but the tie would be short lived.
Thirty seconds later Moe Sargent blasted a shot to the left post past the Carey keeper and Spring Hill went back on top 3-2. The score remained 3-2 until the 80th minute as Carey's Linda Garcia scored to even things up and send the game into overtime.
