8.21.07 Pre-Season Completed

The Lady Sader soccer team has officially begun their 2007 season. On Monday, after two tough weeks of preseason with two-a-days and battling the heat, the team has settled down with their normal training schedule. Coach Owens is impressed with the effort the girls have been putting into the training sessions. Fitness and defending have been the main focus over the past two weeks. “I have really pushed them with their fitness and have forced them to keep focus as we work on different tactics. They have made it very difficult to select the team and I feel this is the deepest team we have had in my two years,” says Coach Owens.
Goalkeeper coach Per Henrikson works with freshman goalkeeper Val Split-Log.
The team has now turned their focus to their home opener against Southern University (D-I) of Baton Rouge this Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. Coach Owens knows the significance of starting off well; “I saw some positive things in our preseason matches, but we need to continue to keep working and improving by Saturday’s game. It is very important to get off to a great start and if we can do the little things correctly, everything else will sort itself out.”
