6.15.07 PRATHER TAKES 0N ASSISTANT POSITION

Goalkeeper and graduated senior Courtnie Prather from San Antonio (TX) has accepted a graduate assistant position with the Lady 'Saders. Coach Danny Owens moved quickly to replace former assistant Brittany Axford-Peebles who has returned to her native Arkansas to pursue coaching opportunities there alongside her husband John who moves to a new position with Falcon Jet in Little Rock. "It was tough to lose Brittany who was an excellent assistant for me." explained Owens. "She has done a lot to help me push this program forward and will be a huge loss. The girl's all liked her a lot and she was extremely dedicated to the program". Axford won a Conference Championship in her senior year ('03) under Coach Boulton (current men's coach) after transferring from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. Her parents are Bill and Bonnie Axford.

Courtnie Prather joined the Lady 'Saders in 2004 under Coach Boulton but red-shirted and played the next two years under Coach Owens. She has experience on the administrative side having enjoyed work study on the men's side being responsible for planning road trips, fundraising, recruiting issues, records and game day paperwork. "As sad as I am to lose Brittany, I know I have an able replacement in Courtnie" said Coach Owens. Prather also helps out as a goalkeeper and assistant coach with the Hattiesburg Youth Soccer Association.
