10.8.07 Men Come Up Short at West Florida, Topple Georgetown

The Carey men (7-9) lost a 1-0 decision to nationally ranked D2 power West Florida, Thursday (10/04) but bounced back to beat Georgetown (KY) on Saturday by 3 goals to one. Fr. Carl Reynolds netted twice.

On Thursday in Pensacola, Florida the Crusaders played hard and although trailing to a 5th minute goal they played well enough to stay in the game and give their hosts plenty to think about. In a tight game chances were at a premium. It wasn't until late into the second half that the Argonauts came close to widening their lead but the Crusaders held out and almost snatched a dramatic equalizer when Jared Wooley's shot hit a post and Charles Hines missed when well placed to score.

On Saturday (10/06) at home in Hattiesburg the men jumped out on the visiting Tigers with an early strike from Scott McCulloch's headed goal. Carl Reynolds scored the first of his from the penalty spot to make it 2-0 in the first half. The Tigers pulled one back but Reynolds put the game away in the second period for a 3-1 Crusader victory.
