Return to Men's Soccer Homepage 4.26.08 Crusaders edge out alumni in competitive contest
The visiting alumni fielded a strong team with many recently graduated, graduating and former players in attendance and were able to give a strong account of themselves with plenty of pride pride at stake. The game was level until 5 minutes from half-time when freshman center-back James Taylor (Salop, England) slotted home from a poorly cleared corner-kick past alumni 'keeper Florent Sourice (Anjou, France). Sophmore Forward Scott Beatty hammered home a second early in the second period and the alumni hung on for a very respectable result. Crusader coach Nigel Boulton had this to say about the game. "We always enjoy these games and this was probably the most competitive since I have been here. Eleven of this alumni squad have played under me and they are still reasonably fit and in form. It was also good to see Oleg Baleev and Noel Monaghan again as well as the inspirational Donovan Estaheusan. We look forward to the next game in August, I hope we can encourage even more alumni to show up".
