William Carey Announces 2007 Women’s Soccer Schedule
Hattiesburg, MS- The 2007 William Carey Women’s Soccer schedule has been announced by Head Coach Danny Owens.
“I am very excited about our schedule this year. We have a great non-conference schedule which I hope will prepare us for our conference games. We play two Division I games as well as three Division II opponents on the schedule. We have scheduled top 25 A.U.M. and play host to Embry Riddle who will have an automatic bid to the national tournament this year as hosts. Our conference gets tougher every year and I hope we will be ready to go once Conference games begin,” said Coach Owens.
Including two exhibition games, the Lady Sader’s will play 10 home games on campus at Crusader Field on the Dr. Larry Kennedy Sports Complex. The Lady Sader’s will open the 2007 season with a home match against Southern University (D-I) on Saturday, August 25. The following weekend, Carey will host Embry Riddle and Lambuth. Embry Riddle will host the NAIA National Tournament this fall and will have an automatic bid into the National Tournament.
Carey will then travel to NAIA top 25 Auburn Montgomery and play Breneau College on the following day. The AUM game will begin a six game road stretch while they travel to Mississippi Valley State (D-I), Delta State University (D-II), Belhaven (GCAC) and finally University of West Florida (D-II).
Ending the month of September, Carey has two home games with conference foe, University of Mobile (GCAC) and Christian Brothers (D-II) is traveling in from Memphis, TN.
The Lady Sader’s will be on the road again for a 4 straight games with Spring Hill (GCAC), LSU-Shreveport (GCAC), Louisiana College (D-III), and University of Mobile (GCAC). Carey will finish out the regular season with home matches against Belhaven, Spring Hill and LSU-Shreveport.
The GCAC Tournament will begin on October 26-27 in a site TBD. Carey advanced to the NAIA Region XIII Tournament last season and finished with an excellent 12-7 record overall. The Lady Sader’s return 10 starters from last year’s team.
