10.30.06 Young Crusaders Finish on Win Go 10-6-1
Senior defenders Juan Adan of Houston, TX (left), Thomas Hill from Mesquite, TX (middle) and senior goalkeeper Florent Sourice from Anjou, France (right) completed their collegiate careers on a win and a shut-out as the Crusaders downed Concordia-Selma (AL) by 3-0 in the final game of the 2006 season. The Crusaders compiled a ten win record going 10-6-1. The team loses only three senior starters for 2007/08. Other graduating seniors for 2006/07 were goalkeeper Ryan Woods of Elberta, AL (bottom left), Drew Gallant (bottom center) and Clifton Marshall (bottom right) both of Hattiesburg, MS. Woods was injured but both Gallant and Marshall entered the game in the second period. Coach Boulton spoke highly of all six seniors. "Woodsy, Drew and Cliffy have been a tremendous part of this program. They may not have had much game time over the years but their attitude and competitiveness in training has helped many players become better because of it. Drew is a married man, a dad and has balanced his home life with school and soccer, a remarkable feat. I wish him the very best for the future, I remember him as a skinny 16 year old at summer camp, he's grown up a lot since then. Woodsy, whatever we put him through, never gave in until he had nothing left to give. Clifton we should all respect. He is in the military as well as in school and his discipline and behavior is everything you would expect from a U.S. soldier. He has more respect from me for his service to this country than anything any soccer player could have achieved here at Carey.
Juan Adan has been a wonderful addition to our squad since his transfer from San Jacinto J.C. in Houston TX. He was nervous about moving from the big city to a small Mississippi town but he has settled well at Carey and we have both gained from the experience. Thomas Hill has been a 4-year starter and was one of my first recruits and together with Florent they will be the first of my 4-year recruits to graduate. They will always have a special place in my heart. Thomas may go on to play after college but his business degree should mean every bit as much to him. Florent is an academic All-American and a truly special person. France can be proud of him".
