Student Government Association
Dear fellow students,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to William Carey University for the 2008-2009 school year. It is going to be a great year! William Carey is a wonderful university with so many things to offer you. One of these things is the Student Government Association.
The SGA works to bridge the gap between the students and administration. This is accomplished by listening to your wants and needs and doing whatever we can to make them happen. We represent you. We are here to serve you.
The SGA joins with the Department of Student Activities in hosting several campus-wide events throughout the year. Greek Rush Week and CareyFest, both in the fall, are very exciting, and our annual Crawfish Boil in the spring is our most anticipated event each year. Please be sure to attend.
I want to encourage each of you to get involved and carve out your notch in Carey life. As important as academics are, involvement in organizations is just as vital to your college experience. William Carey offers 34 student organizations, 10 honor societies, and 17 intramural sports. I trust that you will become a part of at least one of these.
The SGA will hold elections in the fall trimester for freshman and commuter representatives. If you are interested in joining the SGA, please speak to me or any other SGA member about how to do so. We would love to have you as a vital member of our team.
I am excited to be serving my second term as your SGA president. Please feel free to share any thoughts that you have about our school. With your ideas, this year is going to be wonderful! My office is located in room 204 of Lawrence Hall, and I am always ready to speak with you. I hope that you will get involved on campus this year and truly find your place at William Carey University. Have an amazing year!
Cordially yours,
Brian K. Brister
