Qualifications
Candidates for this position must hold a Doctorate in Music and competence and experience in the following areas:
- Choral Conducting
- Applied Voice instruction
- Music Education instruction with public/private school teaching experience
Responsibilities
The Director of the Chorale is a highly visible role at William Carey University and the person appointed must have the personal and professional attributes to represent the university with distinction in various settings, both on and off campus. Specific assignments include, but are not limited to the following:
- Conduct the Chorale, the premiere performing ensemble in the Winters School of Music
- Actively recruit students for The Chorale, The School of Music, and for other performing organizations
- Teach Applied Voice
- Teach Music Education courses as needed
- Establish rapport with public/private school and community college Choral directors/music instructors
- Form a liaison with Mississippi Baptists to assist with the All-State Youth Choir/Orchestra and Heartsong camps
This is a tenure-track position with the expected rank of Assistant Professor.
The contract will begin on August 15, 2009.
Salary: Will be determined by the university according to qualifications and experience.
