Stuart Leonard, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Pharmacology


Dr. Stuart Leonard received his Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Memphis in 2002. He then joined the Biomedical Alcohol Research Training Program at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans as a postdoctoral fellow trainee. In 2005, he received independent research funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIDA) and continued his research in the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics at LSUHSC. During this time Dr. Leonard also lectured in the nursing and dental pharmacology courses; he has also taught anatomy and physiology, endocrinology, and general biology undergraduate courses. He is a member of several professional and honor societies, and has published in multiple peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Leonard maintains research interests in the areas of behavioral pharmacology, neuroendocrinology, and cognitive neuroscience.
