Welcome Message from the Dean
Welcome to the homepage of the Fail-Asbury School of Nursing (FASON) at William Carey University. The FASON has been in place for almost half a century and, through its well-qualified faculty and staff, offers programs of study on each of its three campuses (Hattiesburg, MS, Gulfport, MS and New Orleans, LA).
The Mississippi Campuses are fully accredited by the Institutions of Higher Learning and the Louisiana Campus is fully approved by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. William Carey University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), to award bachelor and master degrees.
The primary goals and/or objectives of FASON’s program of study are threefold: (a) the acquisition of the knowledge, skills and abilities that are requisite to effective nursing care, (b) the development of those critical, lifelong values, practices and acumen that increase the likelihood of continuing success as a professional nurse, and (c) the satisfaction of state/national licensure/certification requirements.
In order to actualize these goals, FASON’s faculty and staff conscientiously provide their students with excellent and innovative education programs, outstanding scholarship, and Christian commitment through example. FASON’s challenging baccalaureate or master's nursing curriculum embodies diverse teaching and learning opportunities for patient/client care experiences in the context of a well-balanced educational program. The program’s success is manifested in and through the accomplishments of FASON’s graduates who consistently perform well on the national licensure examination, who are highly-valued by their employers, and who in large numbers hold management positions in their respective organizations.
As you prayerfully consider God’s will for your life, please feel free to contact us for further information regarding William Carey University and/or its programs of study. Should you eventually be led to become part of our extended family, please be assured of our continued support as you face the challenges associated with FASON’s rigorous nursing curriculum.
Dr. Nadine T. James, Dean
