Master of Science in Nursing
Role – Nurse Educator & Clinical Focus – Adult Health
Competencies of MSN Program Graduates- The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program was developed on the faculty’s belief that graduate education advances professional nursing practice and health care delivery by building on the existing foundation of baccalaureate nursing education. By examining the School of Nursing’s baccalaureate graduate competencies and objectives as well as the roles of teacher, scholar, and collaborator identified by the Southern Regional Education Board as essential for the nurse educator, the faculty developed the competencies expected for the master’s graduate. The faculty developed the curriculum and course objectives based upon these MSN Graduate Competencies.
The MSN graduate will:
- Utilize scientific foundations and theoretical frameworks to implement essential knowledge and skills in the advanced nurse educator role.
- Incorporate sound educational principles into the practice of professional nursing education.
- Utilize collaborative skills to effect change within the nursing profession.
- Serve as a Christian role model in the advanced nurse educator role.
