Master of Science in Counseling Psychology

The Master of Science in Counseling Psychology program emphasizes the theory and practice of counseling psychology, school counseling, and school psychometry. Courses integrate scientific theory with practical experience within a variety of professional settings. Some of the practice domains in which our graduates excel include: 

  • School Guidance Programs  
  • Community Mental Health Agencies
  • Faith-Based Counseling Centers  
  • Churches
  • Nursing Homes    
  • Non-Profit Behavioral Hospitals
  • Private Practice     
  • Business

Many of our graduates elect to pursue licensure and/or certification through state boards and professional organizations such as:

  • Mississippi State Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors
  • Mississippi Department of Education
  • National Board of Certified Counselors

All graduate students in counseling psychology complete a general core curriculum in counseling theory and practice augmented with additional specialization through one of the following degree concentrations or endorsements:

  • Christian Counseling   
  • School Counseling 
  • Community Counseling    
  • School Counseling Endorsement 
  • Organizational Counseling
  • School Psychometry
  • Child and Adolescent Counseling
  • School Psychometry Endorsement
  • Gerontology Counseling   
  • LPC / Licensure
