Department of Chemistry & the Physical Sciences
Chemistry major: 35 hours of Chemistry courses to include CHE 111, 112, 200, 211, & 212 & 16 hours of upper level chemistry courses. Chemistry majors are also strongly encouraged to take courses in biology, physics and mathematics.
Chemistry minor: 21 hours of Chemistry courses, to include CHE 111, 112, 200, 211, & 212 and at least one upper level chemistry course
A variety of courses can be used for the major or minor in Chemistry,
such as:
- Inorganic Chemistry
- Organic Chemistry
- Analytical Chemistry
- Physical Chemistry
- Biochemistry
- Instrumental Analysis
- General Physics
We also offer the following for non-majors:
- General Chemistry
- Physical Science
- Earth & Space Science
Nearly all courses include a laboratory where the emphasis is “hands-on.” Students interested in careers in the physical sciences benefit from our curriculum. Pre-professional students are encouraged to complete a minor in chemistry. Research opportunities are available. Our soap lab synthesizes the fund raising products for our science club.
