Carey Institute of Fine Arts
May 19, 2008
Dear Arts Educators, Music Ministers, Parents and Students:
Four years have passed since the Carey Institute of Fine Arts program began. Our enrollment is at its highest. In fulfillment of one of our goals, quality artistic experiences were offered for all students who participated in the program.
At CIFA, our mission is to offer all members of the community a quality education in the arts regardless of age, professional intention, or previous training. We believe that every person has the potential for musical ability and accomplishment. Our faculty is dedicated to help students reach their highest potential and equip them with musicianship skills that can be applied to all areas of music.
CIFA offers instruction in many instruments, including piano, voice, guitar, organ, woodwinds, and brass, as well as composition and theory instruction. There are three methods of study:
- Individual weekly private lessons are available at every level of study.
- Individual coaching with William Carey University artist-faculty members is available for those who wish to be coached on a non-regular basis.
- We offer group piano lab classes which allow students to learn together and experience the joys and challenges of sharing their musical achievements. Beginning this fall we will offer a new group class designed for children ages five through eight. This class, led by Dr. Ellen Price Elder, will introduce technique skills at the keyboard, sight-reading, theory, and ensemble opportunities.
On Saturday, May 17, 2008, we held scholarship auditions for returning CIFA students. We are excited to announce that we were able to offer scholarship assistance to nine (9) students in our program as a result of donations received during our CIFA Benefit Concert in April, 2008.
Summer Trimester lessons and classes begin the week of May 27, 2008. For registration information please contact me at sueboydprice@gmail.com or call me at 601-318-6138.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Sue Boyd Price, Administrator, Carey Institute of Fine Arts
