Carey Institute of Fine Arts
August 1, 2009
Dear Arts Educators, Music Ministers, Parents, and Students:
Five years have passed since the Carey Institute of Fine Arts program began. Our enrollment has increased each year. We are excited to announce that we now have more than 50 students studying in our program.
At CIFA, our mission is to offer all members of the community a quality education in the arts regardless of age, professional intention, or previous training. We believe that every person has the potential for musical ability and accomplishment. Our faculty is dedicated to help students reach their highest potential and equip them with musicianship skills that can be applied to all areas of music.
CIFA offers instruction in many instruments, including piano, voice, guitar, organ, violin, woodwinds, and brass, as well as composition and theory instruction. There are primarily two methods of study:
- Individual weekly private lessons are available at every level of study.
- We offer group piano lab classes which allow students to learn together and experience the joys and challenges of sharing their musical achievements. This fall we will begin the second year of the group class designed for young children. This class, led by Dr. Ellen Elder, will teach technique skills at the keyboard, sight-reading, theory, and offer ensemble opportunities.
On Saturday, May 30, 2009, we held scholarship auditions for returning CIFA students and are excited to announce that we granted scholarship assistance to seven (7) talented, deserving students in our program. These scholarships were made possible by donations received during our 2009 Benefit Concert and other private donations.
Fall Trimester lessons and classes begin the week of August 24, 2009. For registration information please contact me at sueboydprice@gmail.com or call me at 601-268-9620/601-329-3537.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Sue Boyd Price, Administrator
