School of Psychology and Counseling
The School of Psychology and Counseling at William Carey University provides undergraduate and graduate programs in a Christian environment which prepare students for graduate studies in a variety of fields and/or careers in the mental health field. The Department of Psychology offers an undergraduate major in psychology that will serve as a concentration for the liberal arts student, will serve as a foundation for graduate studies in a variety of fields, and provides support for other departments and schools within the University to supplement their curricula and enable their students to fulfill requirements for licensure and certification in their respective fields.
Graduate programs in psychology are intended to prepare individuals for ministry and employment in a variety of settings: school guidance programs, community mental health agencies, religious counseling centers, churches, community mental health facilities and private practice. All programs may lead to licensure and/or certification in each respective area..
The Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology is offered on the Hattiesburg campus. Students may earn a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology with concentrations in Counseling, School Counseling, Christian Counseling, Gerontology, Child/Adolescent Counseling, or School Psychometrics. Add-on endorsements in School Counseling and Psychometrics are available to individuals who already hold a masters degree and a “AA” educator license.
The Master of Science in Psychology with a concentration in Industrial/Organizational Psychology is available on the Gulfport campus. Add-on endorsements in School Counseling and Psychometrics are also available in Gulfport for students who hold a “AA” educator license. Add-on endorsements may not be added to a degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology.
