Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Coaching

Mission  

The mission of the department is to provide opportunity for the individual to learn activities which are invigorating and enjoyable and will lead to positive physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual growth. Emphasis is placed on physical growth by stressing the importance of developing and maintaining a strong, sound body. The emotional, mental and spiritual growth of the student is enhanced through development of sport skills which will enable the student to participate in worthwhile recreational activities. Through these activities, students will be able to make emotional and mental adaptations.

It is also the aim of the department to give physical education majors, minors, and coaches a clear understanding of procedures, methods, techniques, and materials for effective, competent teaching and coaching.
