Students

Specialist Program - Congratulations to the three advanced graduate students (Deanna Dees, Wynndi Davis, Lucy Flowers) in the Specialist Program who are now in their final trimester of their Field Study Reports. 

Faculty

Congratulations to Dr. Pokey Stanford who has earned promotion and tenure with the rank of Associate Professor. 

  • Dr. Stacy Reeves and Dr. Pokey Stanford have been published in the Council for Exceptional Children Teaching Exceptional Children Journal, March/April 2005 "Assessment That Drives Instruction". The article is a guide for special educators to employ assessment as the driving engine in instruction.
  • Dr. Barbara Stanford was a presenter at the Mississippi School Leadership Institute, February 10-11, 2005, sponsored by the Office of Academic Education and the Office of Special Education, Mississippi Department of Education.
  • Creating Futures Through Technology - Conference and Trade Show - March 6-8, 2005, Biloxi.  Dr. Barbara Stanford will be presenting "Why Change How We Teach?".  This conference is sponsored by Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning.
  • Dr. Stacy Reeves has an article in the Winter 2005 Mississippi Professional Educators Journal. The article,"Contrasts in Kenya," recounts her missions journey to Limuru, Kenya.   Dr. Reeves is on the MPE Board of Directors and serves as Secretary-Treasurer for 2004-2005.
  • Dr. Read Diket received two national awards from the National Education Association:  The Higher Education National Educator of the Year (2004) and Barkan Award for the Leading Research Publication in the Field of Visual Arts (2003).  In 2003-2004 Dr. Diket moved into the Presidency of the Brain, Neurosciences, and Education Special Interests Group of the American Educational Research Institute. Now serving as program chair for the Brain, Neurosciences, and Education Special Interests group.  At the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Dr. Diket was invited to be part of the International Conference on Neuroscience and Education.  She is also Southeastern Director of the higher education division of the National Art Education Association.
