Professor Daniel C. Browning, Jr. (Ph.D., Southwestern)
Browning, an eminent Biblical archaeologist, directs the Summer Travel and Excavation Program (STEP) at William Carey College and holds a joint appointment in religion and history. In the history department he teaches courses in ancient Near East and Greco-Roman World.
Professor Myron C. Noonkester (Ph.D., Chicago)
Noonkester wrote a doctoral dissertation on English sheriffs under the supervision of Mark A. Kishlansky. His scholarly interests include early modern and modern sheriffs, eighteenth and nineteenth century historiography, historical contexts for English literature, and William Carey and Serampore.
Noonkester's work has appeared in Harvard Theological Review, New England Quarterly, and Journal of British Studies. He teaches historiography and Mississippi history each year.
Professor E. Milton Wheeler (Ph.D., Tulane)
Wheeler, who studied with Hugh F. Rankin at Tulane, is an authority on colonial America and the militia during the American Revolution. He has led numerous study tours of Europe and is largely responsible for the disproportionate number of Rotary International fellows produced by William Carey College.
In addition to teaching world history on the Hattiesburg and Coast campuses, Wheeler teaches a course in Russian history and in colonial America each year.
Instructor Jim Myers (M.A., Southeastern Louisiana)
An avid collector of civil war artifacts, Myers teaches U.S. history surveys each year.
