History (Bachelor of Arts) (Hattiesburg Campus): Thirty hours of history courses, which must include HIS 101, 102, 421.
Social Science (Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science) (Hattiesburg Campus): 39 hours of courses chosen from history, sociology, geography, political science, and economics.
Social Science (Bachelor of Science) (Teacher Licensure) (Hattiesburg Campus): To be licensed to teach social science at the secondary level in the state of Mississippi, a student must meet the following requirements: 1) completion of all core curriculum requirements for the Bachelor of Science degree; 2) completion of all professional requirements mandated by state of Mississippi licensure standards; and 3) completion of the following requirements in the social sciences: SOC 101, 111, PSC 201, ECO 201-202, HIS 101, 102, 331, 369, 403 or 404, 421, six hours of upper-level electives in HIS and three hours of upper-level electives in HIS, SOC, or PSC. Students seeking licensure must be advised from both the Department of History and Social Science and the Department of Education.
Minor
History: Twenty-one hours which must include, HIS 421, Historiography.
