Summer Travel and Excavation Program

Directed by Daniel C. Browning, Jr., Professor of Religion and History

The Summer Travel and Excavation Program (STEP) combines intensive, student-oriented study travel in Biblical Lands with participation in the archaeological excavation of a Biblical site. A typical program includes an extensive travel program in Israel, preceded by a brief visit to another country with biblical associations, and followed by three to four weeks at an archaeological dig in Israel. Because of the political situation, STEP has not included travel to Israel or an excavation experience in recent years.

For 2004-05, STEP featured a ten day experience in ROMAN ITALY and Rome during the Winter Trimester break, 11-20 February 2005.

In 2003, the program conducted a thirteen-day hands-on experience of touring in Greece. Click the GREECE link below to see a recap of Greece May 25 - June 6, 2003.
